Cybersecurity has been a top priority concern of the Chinese government in recent years. The new PRC Cybersecurity Law – released in 2016 after rounds of legislative review – has taken effect on June 1st 2017. This new law was closely followed up by various new rules in particular those enacted and being formulated by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). All these will have a substantial impact on foreign companies operating in China.
